Guide to Socialism: Future Post
22nd-Jan-2011 07:53 am
Inspiration
Time, once again, to expand my horizons, so I embark on the Guide to Socialism helpfully suggested by a friend of mine in response to my comment that socialism seemed to be making a comeback in South America. He responded, "Yes, and with the usual results. As it turns out, human beings aren't smart enough to centrally plan an economy, and so they fail spectacularly when they try. Venezuela, for example, is an oil producing country that, thanks to socialism, can't produce enough oil for itself, let alone export." Since I take recommendations, I'll let you know what I think later.

Note the common factor in socialist countries of scapegoating foreigners and dissidents. Socialism never works economically, but socialist theories claim that it should work, so the fault must lie in "wreckers and saboteurs." This is being repeated in Venezuela under Chavez.

I take it that Sweden is an economic failure? And what about post-war Germany?
