Shockingly, someone in San Diego sabotaged artwork presented by a Congressional Candidate!

Even more shock!

It's hard to keep a straight face in the middle of this.....

Last summer, Jeeni traveled with her friends Cindy Sheehan and Medea Benjamin to Jordan, where they met with their counterparts in the Iraqi Resistance ...

In other words, with sociopaths who murder Iraqi citizens. Very "moral."

Time was when any government or administration, let alone a supposedly conservative one, would have rewarded this sort of consorting with the enemy in wartime with a long stretch at the taxpayers' expense - even supposing that the stretch in question was not placed in the perp's neck. Does anyone even believe that there is a war on?

Part of Bush's problem as a war leader is that he is not very ruthless.

I realize that this sounds odd, in the context of the media presentation of him as some sort of maniacal paranoid warlord, but the fact is that Bush has tried to keep affairs at home as "normal" as possible. Which means, no mass recruitment (let alone conscription), no real propaganda directed against the enemy and enemy sympathizers (Bush has instead tried to avoid stirring up "hatred," no punishment for any treasons short of actually fighting for the enemy on the battlefield (and even there, very mild punishments -- look at John Walker Lindh's case).

The problem with Bush, I believe, is that he is naturally a mild, decent sort of man, with not much of a dark side to his personality beyond a tendency to act a bit wild when he drinks. He doesn't really understand evil, and he is therefore not capable of "letting himself go" in response. He does, at least, grasp that the enemy is evil, which is more than most of his critics seem to get.

The sad thing is that, if we lose this war (in part because of Bush's restraint), the likely outcome will be a far bigger war down the road, one likely to go nuclear and kill tens of millions. In which case, the combination of Bush's decency and the antiwar movement's naive hostility will result in killing orders of magnitudes more than would have died if Bush just acted a bit ruthlessly now -- and the American Left was able to grasp that the real enemy isn't in the White House.

There is just nothing to say. Except maybe wow.

Ah, the American Left!

Champions of Freedom, Liberty, Tolerance and Charity...

provided you do exactly as they say at all times and do not attempt to deviate from their vision of your life.

It's Lent! We should be all solemn and proper! You should not be making us laugh out loud with solemnity-sabotage links!

And thank God I had already finished my coffee.

Thank you.
