Classical Music Unleashed

Inspiration
This is brilliant. Really. Deutsche Grammophon, which had an enviable position at the top of the recording industry for classical and orchestral music, has set up a download site to get the music for your ipod or other player: click here.

They are recorded at a high bitrate, and they sound REALLY STUNNING. I "hear" where the instruments are in the orchestra as it plays on my ipod, and I get fabulous detail.

The downside? The downloads are massive (32mb zip file per cd is a good guess), so don't bother with a dialup connection. You need DSL or cable.

Good on DG! I still have a half-dozen or so of their LPs from my college days, and an equal number of CDs (with that media I started buying all sorts of classical labels).

Thank you so much for posting that info. Looks like I'm going to be spending a lot of money today.

Aloha,
