Clever Solution to Dead-End Problem

“The Oregon State Police (OSP) were cross-deputized by the U.S. Marshals Service recently, which would allow officers to charge rioters under federal law and enforce the law on federal property.”

The District Attorney in Portland has been declining to prosecute crimes under local statutes, because he feels that protesters are more important than the people hurt by rioting. This allows local police a way around: they can federally charge rioters, and respond to attacks on federal property.

Goal Oriented: The To-Do List

There are a lot of self-help books available to me. I’ve purchased my fair share over the years. Typically, however, I read, I attempt to do, and an emergency comes up and I have to drop everything to handle it.

Self-help books don’t deal with people for whom things go wrong.

This is not surprising to people who have read Jeremiah 10:23:

”Oh LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”

Power and Those Who Seek It

Stephen W. Browne
Steve's Four Rules of Power

Demonstrate your power over others by:

1) Making them constantly afraid of giving offense unintentionally.
2) Making them give up cherished customs, symbols, pastimes.
3) Making them pay lip service to ideas of breathtaking absurdity.
4) Making them do things that disgust and repel them.

People who seek power don’t do so to help you pick the kinds of things you would do without them. They want you to demonstrate that you need them by doing things that demonstrate that they are important in your life. Hence the need for nonsense.
