Spread the Wealth

Inequities of wealth across the world have concerned many people: some write about it cluelessly, managing to bury their good ideas in the rubble. This, of course, is the point of George Bush's push for good government, the one easy to spot difference between successful economies and the utter failures at the bottom of the heap. It's amazing how closely economic prosperty tracks the rankings at Freedom House: each quintile is fairly uniform.

Good government is the most important indicator of a successful economy. Bad ones fail to feed too many of their citizens, subjects, and slaves, respectively. Bush is right.
